Sustainable chemistry – BlueChem Antwerp

The BlueChem incubator is located in the Blue Gate research hub for sustainable technologies, in the south of Antwerp.

The building,  which houses offices, labs and facilities for innovative sustainable startups in the chemical industry, is characterized by a central atrium, creating an informal meeting point mediating between various areas in the building and encouraging spontaneous encounters between researchers.

BlueChem is 100% circular, and certified BREEAM “Excellent”.

For this Design & Build project, as part of the Blue Gate brownfield redevelopment of the former southern petrol terminal site of Antwerp, eld teamed up with LOW architecten, Ingenium and MBG.
eld provided structural engineering services for this project and is also involved as structural engineer for the adjacent “Blue App” building, currently under construction.
