under construction : Kanaelzicht

This residential development project was initially designed by Inarco, after which eld continued execution design.
This is the first phase (74 units) of a more extended redevelopment intervention for the existing De Naeyer Site in Willebroek. With a total of 134 units.

This site’s location is unique. The former paper factory is located along the quiet side of the canal, but it is also close to all major roads. Some authentic industrial buildings are characteristic references to its past.

Phase one is nearing completion. Its 74 apartments are in 3 new buildings between the river and a garden for the residents.  Underneath this green oasis, there is an underground parking. Commercial activities will be located at the ground floors towards the square at the main road.

The buildings have a strong extraverted character. A lot of attention has been paid to the appearance of the facades, the volumes and the interior layout. Large terraces and windows provide a beautiful view and contribute to maximise the natural light supply.

The raised green inner zone is designed as a common open space accessible to all residents. The orientation of the buildings enhances the privacy of this green and intimate oasis, but at the same time keeps  an open relationship with the surrounding environment.

Phase 2’s construction will start mid 2021 as well as phase 3 design stage.
